As we enter a new chapter in our church's 126 year history, it is much like any change. It is tough to let go and difficult to grab hold of the unknown future. As I struggle with this, God is helping me. Today, God had given me an excitement for the new! I am so thankful Jim and Diane Smith are coming to lead our church! God has come before them, and He will be here with them...every step of the way. Psalm 37:23; The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) PRAISE GOD!!!
That does not mean God is stale! God is fresh!
Over and over in the Psalms, He says, "Sing to me a new song."
2 Corinthians 3:17; Now the Lord is Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
Galatians 5:13; For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don't use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.
As we enter this new chapter in our church in freedom from the Lord, let us seek Him for His plans! Only God knows the plans He has for our part of the Body of Christ! I do know this lesson He is presently teaching me:
To seek the Lord.
This is a call to daily seek Him prior to seeking me.
This is a call to daily seek Him prior to seeking others' advice.
This is a call for committees to seek Him prior to seeking members' opinions.
This is a call for our staff to seek Him prior to anything they do.
Finally, one of the many cool things about God is His desire to involve His people in His Holy Work.
Our first job is to PRAY.
Our second job is to PRAY!
Our third job is to PRAY!!
